Love, love connects all beings, but what about the absence of love? If the essential Adam and Eve were guaranteed true love, what about their children?
Lemuria, Mu, and Atlantis are two nations, sharing a continent in the Pacific Ocean. Atlantis is more "civilized" while Mu is peaceful and spiritual. In Atlantis lives a lieutenant, Seth Vistin, who cannot sleep and is consumed with a lust for power and exploration. And when his wish is granted he ventures into Lemuria, where a deaf recluse, Thoth, discovers a long-forgotten piece of scripture that could change the world; where a young woman, Aset, focuses her thoughts to create a crystal that is a manifestation of emotion. All the while, two sprites that only live in legend seek out the first two human souls to reunite them and mend the great crevice in the world. This is The Tale of Mu, this is the tale of our humanity--at its core, its roots, its beginning.
The Tale of Muis an innovative fantasy novel; more accurately, it is a work of mythic fiction. This subgenre of fantasy fiction bases itself upon preexisting mythology, in this case Atlantis and Lemuria (another lost continent, though in the Pacific Ocean). What separates this novel from other fictional works, and theories, is the placement of Atlantis, which was first proposed by the Greek philosopher Plato to have once existed in the Atlantic. In Beckham's novel, Atlantis is connected with Lemuria in the Pacific Ocean. According to popular belief, Atlantis has become known as a highly advanced society with incredible achievements in the fields of science and engineering. Lemuria, being the contrast to Atlantis, has been known for its spirituality and its connection with the universe, God, et cetera. So, the author presupposes, as a sort of allegory, how the world of science, logic, and reason would interact with the mythic world of higher consciousness when placed on a large stage. It is not a difficult leap to make in order to see correlations between a "civilized" nation exploring a more "primitive" world in this fictional world and the world of our past--especially in this country. However, at the heart of this tale is an exploration of another kind, from the birth of human emotion to the greed of unrequited love. This tale is an adventure of the heart, a search for true love and an argument of its importance; but, it also is a journey through the darker side of the human psyche, its loneliness, its envy, its lust, and obsession for power.

The "coming of age" novel about an alcoholic janitor and his quarter-life crisis--from the author of The Tale of Muis now available! This novel began back in 2001 and the first of the "final" drafts was completed on the day of Hunter S. Thompson's death. The correlation is that Frog in the Pot was basically completed at the time when its author was 22; the same age that Hunter wrote his only novel, The Rum Diary. Frog has gone through a couple slight revisions since that time and is now set now available in time for the holidays!
Frog in the Pot is about Alvin Taylor, a 27-year-old janitor from the Seattle area, who struggles with alcoholism, unrequited love, and his place in the world. His monologue is coupled by a sarcastic, yet conscientious "voice" that is a foil to his own. After a night of belligerent drinking in Canada, Alvin decides to go sober and become a crossing guard for an elementary school--but he doesn't find what he was looking for.
